AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I would not take my car anywhere else for anything mechanical. They are known for their transmissions. They were honest and explained in detail the difference between the three options I had to choose from for repair. My daughter-in-law was so impressed that she had him look at her 2004 BMW X5. The car was lurching and she thought it might be the transmission. They found it. It wasn’t the transmission at all. It was in the differential and while they were at it, they took care of a vacuum leak in the engine. Again they couldn’t have been nicer. They did a great job on the repair. Hank, Spencer, Homer and Adrian are true professionals.

I want to share my wonderful experience visiting this auto repair shop and the excellent communication with Mr. Hank. My first experience was with a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross when it lost power. Before coming to AAMCO, I tried to determine the cause at an authorized Mitsubishi dealer, but the diagnostic cost of $675 seemed very high to me, and I refused such an expensive diagnosis. After that, I visited two other auto repair shops, where they charged me $120 and $90 for diagnostics, but neither of them could determine the cause of the loss of power. When I contacted AAMCO, I was pleasantly surprised that the diagnostics were absolutely free. AAMCO mechanics have 25 years of experience and they immediately determined the cause: a faulty turbocharger. AAMCO themselves found a new part and replaced it at a very fair price. In addition, I received a 90-day warranty. I was very pleased with the quality of service and pleasant communication with the staff. I recommend this auto repair shop if you are looking for high-quality and affordable repairs for your car.

So far every person ever recommended going to aamco got hosed. They only have a 90-day warranty and the transmissions appear to be very low quality and start to degrade within a year of having aamco do work. I do not recommend aamco for any transmission service

The staff were professional, honest, and took the time to clearly explain what was wrong with my car before doing any work. They didn’t try to upsell unnecessary repairs and the pricing was fair compared to other places I checked. Repairs were done quickly and completed quicker than expected.

AAMCO in Lake Forest is the best! The team is honest, upfront, and extremely knowledgeable. They took the time to explain what was wrong with my car and didn’t try to upsell unnecessary repairs. I’ll be bringing all my vehicles here from now on.
